[Update Jan 2024: I’ve since gained further clarity on the focus of my essays and poems: — A newsletter to help you find meaning and purpose as you face the uncertainties of a new chapter in life. See possibility, overcome struggle and thrive as you courageously lean into change.]
Time for a little update:
Wow, four months of consistency here!
That was my little test, to see how serious this would become after starting it on whim.
Poetry? How random.
You know how you chase shiny objects and start a million things? You never know which ones will stick. Most fizzle out.
I began this newsletter as:
A poetic exploration of my own vulnerability, which I know lives in every other person.
And I wanted an artistic space to experiment beyond the confines of my other newsletter, My Creative Calling, which serves my coaching and creator business.
But I have more to give now that I am spending all this time learning and thinking about writing.
I believe it is one of the ultimate skills of our time — not only for communication, but for creative expression, upgrading your thinking and unlocking online business success.
I thought of starting another Substack, but that feels messy.
So, why not integrate?
I’m expanding this newsletter beyond poetry to include my newfound passions of storytelling and writing.
This space will be my unique bundle of all things writing.
But it’s not all about me.
My goal is to serve you.
How?
I will courageously share my lessons learned through valuable, life-changing insights, transformative stories, and powerful questions. I want to model my transformation from accountant to writer to inspire you to take writing seriously and hone your craft.
As for the posting schedule, I don’t know yet.
I’m just gonna keep it ad-hoc for now.
Baby steps.
But I’ll aim for a weekly original poem and a weekly writing piece. And I have plans to expand the “Purpose” element. I’m not sure exactly what that is yet, but I’m excited.
Apologies in advance if you don’t want more frequent emails in your inbox. I won’t take any offence to unsubscribes. But the only way I will get better fast is through consistent output into the real world. I’ve learned the best way to improve is building in public.
Here’s my updated tagline for the letter:
A creative exploration of meaning in life through the written word — poems, stories & notes.
To help you see possibility, overcome struggle, and lean into change.
I appreciate your support in my humble beginnings here.
Wishing you well.
Cheers,
Matt
