I just want you to know how proud I am of you. All the hard work you have done to come this far. The risks you have taken have all paid off, even if you can’t see their rewards yet. Those who you admire do appreciate all that you do, even if they have a funny way of showing it. Think of all you have created in this life; doesn’t it blow your mind? And the presence that you bring brightens up the dullest of rooms. The dark burdens you carry with you, a heavy weight no one else can see. And the change you seek to make often seems many moons away. Your simple wish to try, an honourable gift indeed. But the most beautiful gift of all is the wonder that is you.
Reflection
One of the hardest things can be being nicer to ourselves. It sounds ridiculous here writing it down. But it’s true. We are our harshest critic, we are our worst boss, and our own villainous partner in crime.
You don’t talk to your friends the way you talk to yourself. No, you listen empathetically to your friends, you’re their shoulder to cry on when they are down, and you f*cking cheer them on!
Sure, we already acknowledge the lousy stuff internally, but how about we also recognise the good?
Let’s take a moment to appreciate the astonishing pillar of uniqueness that is you.
What support do you need from yourself in order to perform at your best?
