Peaches & Plums
What's inside my stone?

I'm thinking about stone fruit, peaches and plums, and how they grow outward toward a circular horizon. Not much in nature goes in straight lines. My life feels like a peach, ever expanding, revolving around the centre, the stone. What is inside my stone? What is it I keep circling around? I can't see through its brittle exterior, but I feel its presence, its gravity pulls me near, gives me direction, the hard centre I grow around. Like a peach that's been dropped, I carry my bruises and soft spots, scars that cannot be named. As I draw closer to ripening, I begin to feel what I'm made of. Until the fruit falls away, but the stone knows it has more seasons ahead.
