I catch a glimpse, out the corner of my darting eye.

I catch a glimpse,
out the corner 
of my darting eye.

Something 
staring back at me,
so sweet, so tempting.

I catch myself saying,
“a younger me 
would have inhaled that.”

But no, 
the older me is wise
“oh, so wise”, you say.

But really 
you are ticking,
a ticking time bomb.

Tick, tick, tick,
unknowingly waiting
for your day.
